Elizabrth Herbert/Marfell????

New user to this site. Found it on Forest Of Dean site and hope that someone can assist me.
My main line of research was the Herbert family but have now branched off to other related names. Whilst doing a bit of tidying up of my files I noticed that I had an Elijah Herbert baptised 8 October 1820. Mother's name is shown but not the father, as he is listed as "Base born son of Elizabeth Herbert, servant"
On Elijah's marriage details to Jane Baglin, it does give a father's name of Thomas Gay (could be Gray) Coal Miner.
I decided to try and find the father of Elizabeth Herbert, Elijah's mother and found two possible baptisms.
1) 11 March 1804 for Elizabeth Herbert - parents William and Martha Herbert.
2) 26 April 1808 for Elizabeth Herbert - parents William and Martha

It seems very strange that William and Martha had two daughters of the same name but have found in my research that sometimes if a child dies, a subsequent child is given the same name.

I then had a look to see if I could find a marriage of and Elizabeth Herbert and found the following:

Elizabeth Herbert married Thomas Marfell 24 Dec 1823, which was aproximately three years after the birth of Elijah.

Does anyone know if this Elizabeth was the mother of Elijah or am I clutching at straws? If it is, there is no mention of an Elijah on census records for Elizabeth and her husband Thomas Marfell but perhaps Elijah was living at a different address.
Would appreciate any feed back on this mystery as I have only recently discovered the Marfell connection. Regards Jean Herbert
