I am 39 years old and have been running since I was about 22 years old and have never had any running related injuries. I have not run in the past 3 or 4 years and in the last two months I started running again. As I began this I started to notice that my right Achilles tendon began to hurt, on the back of the heal down towards the bottom, when I stretched my calf. I kept running for the next month and noticed that it got worse as time went by every time I stretched it. I have never had nor have now any pain when I run/walk or do anything else. In order for there to be pain I have to fully stretch it by placing my hands on the wall and putting my right leg back and press my heal to the floor. It is not swollen and does not hurt to the touch, only when I stretch. Does anyone know if this is the onset of a tear or have I just strained it? Basically I have to stretch it for the pain to be there. Any advise as to what I may have and what to do about it.
