Hosting moved to my reseller account
News about this siteSeveral months ago I took out a reseller hosting account with UH-Hosting. This allowed my to create and host the Baildon Village website the Baildon Wiki the MatrixOne UK User Group website and The Whole Chicken. I also host a few sites for friends and family.

Each site is young but hopefully will grow as time goes by.

My hosting contract and domain registration for this site came up for renewal at the end of August 2006 so I took the opportunity to move the domain registration to 1 and 1 and the hosting to my own reseller account.

Follow the links from the graphics below. 1 and 1 for domain registration or UH Hosting for Unix Web Hosting - Shared and Reseller. With UH Hosting you can get one domain registered free, depending on the account requested.

The transfer of the hosting did not go as smoothly as I had hoped and resulted in the site being unavailable for more than a day.

I asked my previous host (me2uweb) to change the tag to SCHLUND and requested a transfer using my 1 and 1 account - 1 and 1 use SCHLUND for their registration. Unfortunately me2uweb seem not to host sites that they do not control the domain of. Therefore when I requested the change of tag they assumed I was transferring to another host. I was going to, but only when I was ready. Instead of letting me know this they just changed the tag and cancelled the hosting account. This would probably be exactly what most people would want them to do. Unfortunately I was not ready at that point.

me2uweb emailed me zip fles of the databases on my account. I then changed the nameservers to point to my account and once I was able to get back to the task I recreated the databases, restored the site and changed the database host, username and password settings in all the config files.

There is still a lot of tidying up I can do but things are up and running.
