You may know that I often go for a walk at lunch-time along the river, along the canal or into Robert’s Park. Quite a few others do the same and will have seen me stood on the canal bank between Saltaire and Hirst Lock.
I have been trying for a while at this time of year to get a decent photo of a Sparrow catching a Mayfly. Sparrows are not the sort of bird you think of for catching flies in the air but Mayflies are about as aerobatic as Sparrows. They emerge from the water and fly straight up into the air making themselves easy prey for the Sparrow. However that does not mean it is easy to photograph them so I am quite pleased with this one.
