{"id":1346,"date":"2016-04-10T20:21:59","date_gmt":"2016-04-10T20:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marfell.me.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1346"},"modified":"2016-04-10T20:27:57","modified_gmt":"2016-04-10T20:27:57","slug":"a-couple-of-hours-at-rodley-nature-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marfell.me.uk\/wordpress\/a-couple-of-hours-at-rodley-nature-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"A couple of hours at Rodley Nature Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a quick trip to Rodley Nature Reserve today and a few birds were kind enough to show themselves.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Robin\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/26261496612\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1499\/26261496612_24b40a0b5a_z.jpg\" alt=\"Robin\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Robins are noisy little things and often keep still even though quite close.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Oystercatcher\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/25751121513\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1469\/25751121513_87523aa550_z.jpg\" alt=\"Oystercatcher\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I saw only 2 Oystercatchers. I often see Oystercatchers at Saltaire too. There seems to have been a pair nesting at the Tax Office for a number of years and you can often hear their &#8220;Peep, Peep&#8221; as they fly along the river.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Bluetit\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/26353873665\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1567\/26353873665_928893d499_z.jpg\" alt=\"Bluetit\" width=\"426\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Plenty of Bluetits were around.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Bluetit\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/25749013614\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1679\/25749013614_9c6bb505cf_z.jpg\" alt=\"Bluetit\" width=\"427\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Goldfinch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/26261486272\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1468\/26261486272_4b382d79d2_z.jpg\" alt=\"Goldfinch\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The visitor centre has several feeding stations around it and unfortunately the Godfinches would not show themselves except on the feeder.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Chiffchaff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/25751117513\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1608\/25751117513_0e0144caeb_z.jpg\" alt=\"Chiffchaff\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However the star of the visit was this Chiffchaff. There were several about but as is often the case they were always behind a line or 2 of trees. Except this one as I was about to head home.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Chiffchaff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/26327920016\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1707\/26327920016_663a3a69d9_z.jpg\" alt=\"Chiffchaff\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of the other sightings were Tufted Duck, Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Grey Heron, Kestrel, Longtail Tit, Great Tit, Cormorant, Canada Goose, Greylag Goose, Mute Swan, Willow Warbler, Wren, Magpie, Dunnock, House Sparrow, Mallard, Teal, Swallow&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>There were several other species but the quick glimpse was not good enough for me, nor am I good at recognising them by song.<\/p>\n<p>And as an added bonus there are several Ingress portals there.<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a quick trip to Rodley Nature Reserve today and a few birds were kind enough to show themselves.
