Nottingham, Marsden and Salford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been wondering whether I should be putting these on Google+ which is more related to Ingress, but though Ingress is the reason for the trip it is not the subject of the photos. So I&#8217;ll keep them on my WordPress site. It might not look much in this photo but it is quite a size. It is in the region of 6m in diameter and weighs in at close on 10 tonnes. This wet afternoon didn&#8217;t do it justice. It&#8217;s impressive and of course is an Ingress <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ingress.com\/intel?ll=52.953945,-1.156533&amp;z=17&amp;pll=52.953945,-1.156533\" target=\"_blank\">portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"3 wheeler on the wall of restaurant 4550 Miles from Delhi\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/30357113113\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/6\/5637\/30357113113_d080e26d25_z.jpg\" alt=\"3 wheeler on the wall of restaurant 4550 Miles from Delhi\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On my wanders round the portals of Nottingham doing the Nottingham Lion Ingress banner missions I came across this unusual bit of advertising. They date back to 1986. Brian Clough was a manager of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nottinghamforest.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nottingham Forest football club<\/a> for many years. It was known to be a pub back in \u00a01725. This is Willoughby House on Low Pavement. At the moment it is one of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paulsmith.com\/uk\/locator\/paul-smith-willoughby-house\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Smith&#8217;s<\/a> clothes shop. It is just across the road from\u00a0Prezzo Window Ornaments <a href=\"https:\/\/ingress.com\/intel?ll=52.951468,-1.147945&amp;z=17&amp;pll=52.951468,-1.147945\" target=\"_blank\">portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"PM7_6953\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/30357061513\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/6\/5620\/30357061513_5bd435b2ee_z.jpg\" alt=\"PM7_6953\" width=\"640\" height=\"395\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ok. I admit to having liked this view. Nice buildings, lit well. A slightly wet, reflective cobbled street. This is Broadway which has a plaque. (portal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ingress.com\/intel?ll=52.951809,-1.142861&amp;z=17&amp;pll=52.951809,-1.142861\" target=\"_blank\">llink<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"PM7_6957\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/31050246251\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/6\/5678\/31050246251_046a43a7c4_z.jpg\" alt=\"PM7_6957\" width=\"379\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bradford has one of these as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ingress.com\/intel?ll=53.785685,-1.737838&amp;z=17&amp;pll=53.785685,-1.737838\" target=\"_blank\">portal<\/a>\u00a0where it is called a sculpture (!!??) but without the stainless steel post sprouting out the side of it. I have now done a bit more digging on t&#8217;internet and found that a company called Furnitubes makes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.furnitubes.com\/street-furniture\/bell-bollard\" target=\"_blank\">Bell Bollards<\/a>\u00a0and if driven at correctly they push the vehicle to the side. I am a little surprised that I can&#8217;t find anything on the internet about Adams of York. This is looking towards Fall Lane (the red bridge) and Weir Side. The reddish\/orange tower near the centre is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marsdenmechanics.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marsden Mechanics Hall<\/a>, a Community Hall.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Huddersfield Narrow Canal, Marsden\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/30357004843\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/6\/5494\/30357004843_b378afbecf_z.jpg\" alt=\"Huddersfield Narrow Canal, Marsden\" width=\"426\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have seen some of my other posts you will have read my comment about how narrow the Peak Forest Canal is in parts. This shot shows the Huddersfield Narrow Canal &#8211; it&#8217;s narrow. Other places you can see this canal are Slaithwaite, pronounced Slawit, and Uppermill &#8211; two names that might be familiar to Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester Ingress players.
