It is actually a haven for several butterfly and other wildlife. I went to have a look at it today, Saturday 22 July 2017..<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Cinnabar Moth Caterpillar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36053671106\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4323\/36053671106_f85a459572_c.jpg\" alt=\"Cinnabar Moth Caterpillar\" width=\"534\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am not showing the photos in the order inw hich they are taken but more in the lifecycle order. This is a Cinnabar Moth caterpillar on Ragwort. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukmoths.org.uk\/species\/tyria-jacobaeae\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK Moths<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Vapourer Moth caterpillar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36053668946\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4305\/36053668946_7218772d8e_c.jpg\" alt=\"Vapourer Moth caterpillar\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And this spectacular one is the caterpillar of a Vapourer Moth. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukmoths.org.uk\/species\/orgyia-antiqua\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK Moths<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Burnet Moth Cacoon\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35703674400\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4303\/35703674400_bb3c1e3d44_c.jpg\" alt=\"Burnet Moth Cacoon\" width=\"534\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This paper pocket is what is left of a Burnet Moth pupae.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"6 Spot Burnet Moth\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36093606785\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4320\/36093606785_062f1ed8d4_c.jpg\" alt=\"6 Spot Burnet Moth\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Knapweed was the main thing that the small wildlife was on. This 6 spot Burnet Moth looked rather shiny. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukmoths.org.uk\/species\/zygaena-filipendulae\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK Moths<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Cinnabar Moth\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35960855711\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4306\/35960855711_844956de03_c.jpg\" alt=\"Cinnabar Moth\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And this one is a Cinnabar Moth unless the underside of Burnet Moth wings are red.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Small Skipper\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36053672886\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4317\/36053672886_0d597c1139_c.jpg\" alt=\"Small Skipper\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quite a few Small Skippers were flitting around and feeding on the Knapweed. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukbutterflies.co.uk\/species.php?species=sylvestris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK Butterflies<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Flesh Fly?\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35284524823\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4292\/35284524823_e808d35675_c.jpg\" alt=\"Flesh Fly?\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know why it has its name and I&#8217;m not sure I want to know but this, I think, is a Flesh Fly.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Hoverfly\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35960841171\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4325\/35960841171_981bd9b8cb_c.jpg\" alt=\"Hoverfly\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Knapweed really attract the insects. Hoverfly included.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"PM7_4426\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35254275464\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4322\/35254275464_54f4597c33_c.jpg\" alt=\"PM7_4426\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and this one coming in snout first.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"PM7_4434\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36093598925\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4300\/36093598925_f1f51db199_c.jpg\" alt=\"PM7_4434\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and once in sharing it with several other insects.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Orange Tailed Bumble Bee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36093603185\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4305\/36093603185_ee8ccb5ee4_c.jpg\" alt=\"Orange Tailed Bumble Bee\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s orange tailed bumblebees<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"White Tailed Bumblebee (Bombus lucorum)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35284549223\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4295\/35284549223_6204047ab8_c.jpg\" alt=\"White Tailed Bumblebee (Bombus lucorum)\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and white tailed bumblebees<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Chrysotoxum bicinctum\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35284529623\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4319\/35284529623_663afa1de6_c.jpg\" alt=\"Chrysotoxum bicinctum\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a hoverfly called Chrysotoxum bicinctum<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Shield Bug\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36093621245\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4292\/36093621245_fd647c87c6_c.jpg\" alt=\"Shield Bug\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and this little one is one of the many forms of Shield Bug.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Harlequin\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35703682520\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4296\/35703682520_10968305da_c.jpg\" alt=\"Harlequin\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This Harlequin has a dent in its wing casing.
