I guess the sun hadn&#8217;t been out for long and it was taking a little time for butterflies and insects to find it because within a few minutes it was quite busy.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Red Admiral Butterfly\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36052788421\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4310\/36052788421_19e7d232e1_c.jpg\" alt=\"Red Admiral Butterfly\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately most of the butterflies tended to be towards the top of the plant or flew off as soon as I pointed the camera at them. The Red Admiral was kind enough to stay around.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"PM7_4571\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36144921576\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4292\/36144921576_036dfe2624_c.jpg\" alt=\"PM7_4571\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"PM7_4574\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35381720173\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4307\/35381720173_2453e6b950_c.jpg\" alt=\"PM7_4574\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"PM7_4576\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36144919516\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4304\/36144919516_30a686d0ef_c.jpg\" alt=\"PM7_4576\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quite a few nectar seeking insects came along and several varieties of Bee and Hoverflies flitted around. The wing tips on this bee are looking a bit frayed.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Willow Warbler\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35381709143\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4313\/35381709143_294554fc93_c.jpg\" alt=\"Willow Warbler\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Later in the day I went down to Denso Marston Nature Reserve and spent some time watching several Willow Warblers in the reeds at the back of the pond. On several occasions four or five would be visible at one time.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Willow Warbler\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35381710753\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4328\/35381710753_94c5fe5afa_c.jpg\" alt=\"Willow Warbler\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Juvenile Willow Warbler\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36018244202\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4310\/36052861681_49a3e1a89a_c.jpg\" alt=\"Juvenile Willow Warbler\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one is a juvenile I believe.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Juvenile Blackcap\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36018247412\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4313\/36018247412_0c5fff49df_c.jpg\" alt=\"Juvenile Blackcap\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the right hand side of the reeds was a Juvenile Blackcap and at about the same time I took this a flock of 12-15 Long Tailed Tits were moving through the trees above it. Several Chaffinches and Goldfinches were also flying around.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Dunnock\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35381707613\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4318\/35381707613_717dcb8cbd_c.jpg\" alt=\"Dunnock\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over on the feeding area were Robins, a Squirrel and this Dunnock. Nearby several Jays could be heard arguing amongst themselves.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Brown Hawker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35381717173\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4294\/35381717173_97a57ffe54_c.jpg\" alt=\"Brown Hawker\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the edge of the pond-dipping area this Brown Hawker was clinging to the timber as it laid its eggs in the water.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Blue Tailed Damselfly (female?)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36018252732\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4312\/36018252732_5b6a034be9_c.jpg\" alt=\"Blue Tailed Damselfly (female?)\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dozens of Blue Damselflies could be seen flitting around in the sun and as soon as a cloud came over they seemed to just disappear. This Blue Tailed Dameslfly settled on the timber edging.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Common Lizard\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/35381701113\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4323\/35381701113_9da3a0eac1_c.jpg\" alt=\"Common Lizard\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I then went for more of a wander and lifted up several of the boards in the reserve. Under one of the boards I found this lizard.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Bullfinch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36018244202\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4314\/36018244202_60f5d7ee1e_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bullfinch\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In several places I could hear the rather boring call of Bullfinches but struggled to see them until I reached a bit of an opening&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Bullfinch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/36052790941\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4319\/36052790941_87c1bcefaa_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bullfinch\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and spotted these two eating Rowan berries.<\/p>\n<p>As usual you can click on any of the images and view them larger on Flickr.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Buddleia is a decent size and quite high; on Sunday I commented that it had no butterflies on it even though the sun was out.
