There are several more photos within the album.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Great Crested Grebes mating\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/41441322820\/in\/album-72157698312990314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1769\/41441322820_e5727de198_c.jpg\" alt=\"Great Crested Grebes mating\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first hide was looking out onto a pair of Great Crested Grebe. Two Avocet in front of a few Black Headed Gulls. This is a first for the reserve.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Avocet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/41441320610\/in\/album-72157698312990314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1782\/41441320610_a57d9f4218_c.jpg\" alt=\"Avocet\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The long, thin, upward curved beak is evident in this shoy.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Avocet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/41441320010\/in\/album-72157698312990314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1806\/41441320010_4eba4c0116_c.jpg\" alt=\"Avocet\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of them has rings on its leg. I think they are &#8211; left leg, white on top of green. Right leg, red on top of orange. Hopefully others have better views and have been able to find out where it was ringed.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Avocet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/41441319830\/in\/album-72157698312990314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/920\/41441319830_b578108d3b_c.jpg\" alt=\"Avocet\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The upwards curve of the beak means they can sweep it along the surface of the water and catch the aquatic insects.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Avocet\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/41441317900\/in\/album-72157698312990314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/915\/41441317900_fa88c4b72a_c.jpg\" alt=\"Avocet\" width=\"534\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It looks as though the ringed bird also has one on its right leg. As surprised as I was\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/41441317630\/in\/album-72157698312990314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1808\/41441317630_013eca9d88_c.jpg\" alt=\"Pheasant. As surprised as I was\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I walked around the wild flower meadow where there were lots of Meadow Brown butterflies.
