And street views of Saltaire."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had thought that my photo for Street, which is Day 30 of the @hiddenbradford #bradfordphotoaday challenge, would be a line of cherry trees disappearing into the distance with them all laden with blossom. A nice image but the reality was sadly lacking.<\/p>\n<p>Our cherry tree is in blossom (which is my <a title=\"Blossom\" href=\"http:\/\/yfrog.com\/gzvbozlj\" target=\"_blank\">photo<\/a> for the start of the May challenge &#8211; taken with my phone) but the Wrose Road trees are not in bloom. Was it last year that they were all pruned so they are struggling to blossom or is it just a few days too early? I guess that Wrose Road does not qualify as a street either, and it is avenues that are tree lined, not streets. Streets are cobbled &#8211; hence my submission for the last day of April is Albert Terrace.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/6983267788\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Albert Terrace\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8019\/6983267788_3737373892_d.jpg\" alt=\"Albert Terrace\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And Yes, that is a terrace but all (?) the streets of Saltaire end there.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>William Henry St<\/li>\n<li>George St<\/li>\n<li>Amelia\/Ada St<\/li>\n<li>Edward\/Helen St<\/li>\n<li>Fanny\/Mary St<\/li>\n<li>Herbert\/Whitlam St and<\/li>\n<li>Albert <del>St<\/del> Rd<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As you can see from the photo, Herbert St ends there.<\/p>\n<p>Considering the weather we had over the weekend the sky on Monday was amazing, or should I just say that the sky on Monday was amazing? I spent lunch-time walking the streets (Note that. Streets!) of Saltaire and took several photos.<\/p>\n<p>I composed this one of Lockwood St to try and make the most of the telephone wires. Telephone wires have been underground for many years &#8211; but not in Saltaire.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/7129891627\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Telephone wires\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8167\/7129891627_368e163ff5_z_d.jpg\" alt=\"Telephone wires\" width=\"469\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And just for the record I have not done any heavy editing of the sky.<\/p>\n<p>This is another one showing telephone wires streaming from the telegraph pole, and a red telephone box. This is Edward Street, with Baildon in the background.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/7129890467\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Edward St\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7222\/7129890467_455a4d662c_d.jpg\" alt=\"Edward St\" width=\"500\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By this time I think I was using my polarising filter to take some of the reflection off the road and add more contrast to the clouds.<\/p>\n<p>This one is taken on Fanny St that then leads to Mary St and Upper Mary St before it ends at Saltatire Road. It crosses over Caroline St and Titus St.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/7129891083\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Fanny Sy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7201\/7129891083_dae6262bcc_d.jpg\" alt=\"Fanny Sy\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the junction of Caroline St and George St with the United Reform Church in the background and Baildon Moor behind that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/6983809114\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Caroline St\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7188\/6983809114_736dd3985f_d.jpg\" alt=\"Caroline St\" width=\"500\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one is looking up George St.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/7129892593\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"George St\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7193\/7129892593_74832c8b53_d.jpg\" alt=\"George St\" width=\"500\" height=\"316\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the last one is of Titus St.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pmarfell\/7129893105\/in\/photostream\/lightbox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Titus St\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7092\/7129893105_77a7c89549_d.jpg\" alt=\"Titus St\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think several of these show off the architecture of Saltaire quite well. Note there are lots of TV aerials and telephone wires but no satellite dishes. Does broadband come via the overhead telephone wires I wonder?<\/p>\n<p>I have enjoyed doing these blogs for the #bradfordphotoaday challenge for April but I will not be able to keep it up for May. I think the May challenge will be an experiment in using the camera on my phone.
