Tadpoles, Goslings and Moorhen chicks. Down at Denso Marston Nature Reserve I wasn’t able to walk right round the pond path. A Canada Goose family were near the footbridge so I watched them from a distance and walked back the way I had come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tulips<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In our garden we have a pot with some Tulips. Most of the time the Tulips are Tulip shaped (closed) but when some bright sun shines on them they open wide. I have only seen that a couple of times this year. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St John’s<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Hopefully I will get the chance to take some photos of St John’s Church, Baildon, without the railings and before the building work starts; Health and Safety rules tell me that the railings are there to stay though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Down near the Denso pond the Canada Goose parents spotted me and stretched their necks up to keep an eye on me. I stayed back and they soon settled and the goslings came out from under their wings and started foraging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While they were foraging I spent some time watching a Moorhen chick being fed and also spotted quite a few tadpoles all along the edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year I have heard several Blackcaps but had only had fleeting glimpses. On Thursday I could hear a few and was lucky enough to spot a pair through the trees. The female seems to be watching the male – expecting the male to use that bit of web to reinforce their nest perhaps?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other birds around were Great Tits, Crows, Magpies, Jays, Goldcrest, lots of singing Blackbirds but the ones that stuck around other than the Canada Geese and Moorhens were Robin, Wren, Song Thrush, Blue Tit, Grey Wagtail and Mandarin Duck. Plenty of Mallard were around too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Spider Club feeding station a couple of Squirrel were tucking into the seeds. They kept an eye on me but didn’t seem too worried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few of the trees are still not in full leaf but Dandelions have already clocked off. The Wild Garlic is in flower as are a few clumps of Bluebells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I try to identify the things I take photographs of, but all I am going to say about this one is that it is an insect with wings. Feel free to let me know what it is. It would be better if we could see the body under the wings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

At Denso Marston Nature Reserve, I observed various wildlife including a Canada Goose family, Moorhen chicks, and tadpoles. In my garden, the tulips display their full bloom occasionally in the sunlight. I spotted various birds like Blackcaps, Robins, and more, along with squirrels at a feeding station.
