Another hour or so down by the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am no expert but I believe most of the blue Damselflies I have seen are Azure Damselflies. On this visit to Denso Nature Reserve, though there were lots of Azure Damselflies, I reckon that the header image and the two above are Blue-tailed Damselflies. Apparently they are common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though the sun was quite bright on some areas of the reserve I didn’t spot any butterflies. There were quite a few ladybirds. I used my macro lens to get the photo of the Mirid Bug (Grypocoris stysi) a capsid bug<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near the exit to the Reserve (it is also the entrance but I was thinking of heading home) I spotted a Crow carrying something quite large and white into a tree. Curious as to what unsavoury thing it had found I crept along to see – a slice of white bread. Across the river a couple of Goosander exercised their wings before floating up river past a young Grey Heron that was stretching, scratching and fluffing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A couple of times I had heard a Kingfisher fly along the river. With the last one I caught sight of it and watched it fly and perch on a branch. Of course it teased me by keeping hidden behind the leaves before flying off up river.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

The visit to Denso Nature Reserve featured various wildlife, including Blue-tailed Damselflies, ladybirds, a Mirid Bug, Goosanders, and Grey Herons. Despite the bright sun, no butterflies were spotted.
