21 Oct. Bracken Hall Countryside Centre Walk

Today was one of John Dallas’s walks from Bracken Hall Countryside Centre. The idea was to keep an eye out for fungi, fruit, nuts, and berries! John guided us around the things that could feed us with his incredible in-depth knowledge, but in line with my recent sign-up to the Mid-Yorkshire Fungus Group I was paying particular attention to the fungi, and there was a lot of it. These are a few photos of what was seen. There is a Saturday Fungi Foray where people from the Mid-Yorkshire Fungus Group will be guiding us and I hope to attend and continue my education in my retirement. I have decided not to bother with any text/writing next to the photos because there is not really any more to be said. I would love to have been able to identify everything and say lots about it but unless I go around with someone with a lot more knowledge than me, and a notebook, you will have to make do with someone that likes to use a camera.

The header image is of Honey Fungus, which is genus Armillaria, it is possibly Armillaria ostoyae

As usual you can tap/touch/click on an image to see it in better quality in the carousel gallery with an i for more information. And if you like what you see please click on one or more of the Share buttons at the bottom.

Shipley Glen Fungi

These are in the order in which they were taken during the walk.

We have many Honey Fungus, Turkey Tail, Sulphur Tuft, Mycena sp., Bracket Fungus, Bolete, Amanita sp, and a strange one with a small mushroom growing out of a larger stem.

Hopefully many will still be there on Saturday when I can listen to the experts and find out what they are in more detail.

Please click on the images to take you to better quality images in the carousel gallery where the i will let you see the title, and caption, and some photography info.

You can also leave comments or subscribe to the site – leave your email address and you will get notified when I publish something new.

And if I have got the ID of anything wrong please let me know, I don’t consider myself an expert but I have write something. It is often a best guess and it would take up too much room to say It could be this, or it could be… or perhaps.
