My ramblings, my photos, photography, image editing, etc.

Wishbone Ash, Holmfirth

For my birthday this year Lucy got 2 tickets for the Wishbone Ash tour appearance at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth. Argus and Pilgrimage are still 2 of my favourite albums. Lucy reminded me of the holiday we went on where she kept asking for Wishbone Ash to be played in the car so I guess she likes the music too.

The supporting acts had finished by the time we got there but we got close to the front – and quite close to the speakers on the right.

Andy Powell (below) is the only remaining member of original line-up of Wishbone Ash.

And here he is with the bassist Bob Skeat who started playing with Wishbone Ash in 1998.

The other guitarist with Andy is Jyrki “Muddy” Manninen who joined in 2004.

And here is Bob looking rather pensive instead of his usually smiley face.

The drummer, Joe Crabtree, is the youngster of the group having replaced Ray Weston in March 2007. Because of where we were (more on that at the end) this is the best shot I could get of him.

And here is the man that allowed us to hear the vacals over the guitars and drums. The Soundman

When we arrived we didn’t quite register that the man in front of us, leaning on the barrier was NOT standing on a box. When he stood up he was about 7 feet tall and he wasn’t ashamed to be playing air-guitar with his long arms. As a result a lot of the photos I took have a long dark section on the left.

He was tall

Hello there Paul! We met near Saltaire on Wednesday (5 old guys near the sports center).
Just been having a look through your Flickr photostream and liking a lot of your images, especially the dipper, one of my fav birds! Really enjoyed our day at Saltaire, not too many pics taken as I only had my compact with me, but intend to return soon with my DSLR. Great meeting you, will keep a lookout for you next time, or if you are ever around Bury, Lancs, give me a shout!
