Day 23 – Hill – Jubilee Beacon site

There are one or two hills around Bradford and for day 23 of the @hiddenbradford photo challenge I have submitted this one taken from Victoria Road, Saltaire. The farm near the top of the hill (Hope Hill) is Hope Farm.

Just a little further over the hill is the trig point on Baildon Moor. This has recently had a diorama added by the Friends of Baildon Moor.

The views from the trig point are quite specatcular on a clear day. The power stations of Ferrybridge, Eggborough and Drax are visible. The trig point is also visible if you get far enough away to see the top of te hill. This photo is taken from over near Reva Reservoir about 1.6 miles distant.

It is close to here that Friends of Baildon Moor and Baildon Rugby Club will be lighting the Jubilee Beacon this year.

In my “quest” (aka quick look around) for a hill that will fit in the camera frame I also took this from about the same place on Victoria Road as the view towards Baildon. Several years ago when I was on Briar Wood in Wrose I noticed that the TV aerials on the houses were pointing in different diections. It took me a little while to realise that they were all pointing AWAY from the same place – the transmitters.
