RSPB & Shipley Glen. 15 March 2026

Sunday morning was a walk with Airedale and Bradford RSPB Group. A couple of hours at Shipley Glen looking for birds. This was one of the walks they have organised for this Spring to celebrate the creation of the Bradford Pennine Gateway National Nature Reserve. They have dates for these walks on their website. In the Tracks map below you can select Bradford Pennine Gateway to display all the areas within it.

The header image is of a few Jackdaws in the fields across the road.

As usual you can tap/touch/click on an image to see it in better quality in the carousel gallery with an i for more information. And if you like what you see please click on one or more of the Share buttons at the bottom.

Shipley Glen & Bracken Hall Green

These are just a few photos as a record of Sunday mornings’s walk down in Shipley Glen and along Bracken Hall Green. Please tap on them to see them in the carousel gallery.

It was very quiet on the bird front though a few times the wind stirred up a bit of tree noise and the occasional spot of rain fell. I did manage to point my camera at some birds and here are the results.

Considering that many of the trees still have no leaves it was surprising how the birds managed to keep out of sight. One of the reasons is that, with the eye, they are just a silhouette against the sky and unless they are moving they are just part of the black and white canopy. We could hear Great Tits, Wrens and Crows and saw several Wood Pigeons as they flew away from us.

The first 4 photos are from Shipley Glen and the other 6, including the header image, are from the other side of the wall.
