Skylark on Baildon Moor. March 2025

Though I say Skylark on Baildon Moor it was mainly the pleasure of hearing them high in the sky. I did take a photo but I wont be printing it out.

As usual you can tap/touch/click on an image, not its caption, to see it in better quality in the gallery. If you are using a phone this can be quite tricky to do because the caption takes up most of the space of the thumbnail, you might find it easier to turn your phone to landscape. I am hoping to change that for the site. You can also leave comments or subscribe to the site – leave your email address and you will get notified when I publish something new.

Stonechat etc.

The main fun of the walk was watching a pair of Stonechat jump up from the stone wall and then come down a few stones further along. I guess they were either catching flies or displaying to each other as they moved along.

The length of the rear claw of the Meadow Pipit is impressive, I wonder what the benefits are of having such a thing.

I heard flying Red Grouse and managed to see where they landed but only one of them showed itself.

The photo of the hovering Skylark is only included as a record of the event, but it is something I love to see and hear in Spring and Summer

Landscape Views

These are a few landscape views from the western side of Baildon Moor. Distant views were very hazy. The hills getting more and more grey the further away they were. The view of the Moon shows that the haziness is due to the atmosphere, otherwise the Moon would be very fuzzy.
