A March trip to Rodley Nature Reserve with excellent views of Snipe.
As usual you can tap/touch/click on an image, not its caption, to see it in better quality in the gallery. If you are using a phone this can be quite tricky to do because the caption takes up most of the space of the thumbnail, you might find it easier to turn your phone to landscape. I am hoping to change that for the site. You can also leave comments or subscribe to the site – leave your email address and you will get notified when I publish something new.
Snipe
The highlight of this visit was getting good views of several Snipe.

In the first two here you can see some juicy “thing” that the Snipe has dug out from the mud. Click on the image to see it better quality.
Others
Tucked away at the water’s edge was a Water Rail. It kept itself reasonably well hidden, but then it came out of the reeds and at a fair rate of knots ran along the edge from pretty much one end to the other.

The calling Gull is, I believe, a Yellow Legged Gull that had been tucking into, what looked like, a duck wing. I had seen other birds pulling at a carcass there earlier.
