My ramblings, my photos, photography, image editing, etc.

Early March 2025. Gill Beck

Another couple of walks along parts of Gill Beck. Seeing the Dippers has got me interested in visiting the place, and is only just down the road.

As usual you can tap/touch/click on an image, not its caption, to see it in better quality in the gallery. If you are using a phone this can be quite tricky to do because the caption takes up most of the space of the thumbnail, you might find it easier to turn your phone to landscape. I am hoping to change that for the site. You can also leave comments or subscribe to the site – leave your email address and you will get notified when I publish something new.

Gill Beck Wildlife

These are the photos of the birds spotted on these visits. Dipper, Coal Tit, Kestrel, Heron, Grey Wagtail, Jackdaw and Treecreeper.

As soon as I got to the Beck on the other side of Premier Cru Wines I saw three Dippers, one of them in display mode. Spring is in the air.

The Coal Tit was also suffering from Spring – collecting nesting material.

The Kestrel was just up from the pond on the Golf course that is near the rail viaduct. The Heron was on the pond up from Tong Park Dam, the pond with the red brick wall.

Plants and things

I spoil my walks by carrying a camera with a big heavy lens and often have a tripod with me. These characters spoil their walks by carrying bags containing metal sticks.

The Butterbur is growing fast, on my previous visit they were only just showing. Wild Garlic is thickening up nicely and will soon form a solid carpet. Various Fungi are still showing their fruiting bodies.
