My ramblings, my photos, photography, image editing, etc.

The 1st week in June, 2024

This week has seen a couple of trips down to the river Aire at Denso Marston Nature Reserve and an evening in Lister Park with Shipley Camera Club.

As usual you should be able to tap on an image to see it full-screen in its gallery.

Down by the river and around the pond, wherever there were some leaves, there were Damselflies, loads of them. Most of them, I think, are Azure Damselflies, with quite a few of them mating or ovipositing. The dark wings of the Banded Demoiselles were noticeable as they flitted around. There were also several Large Red Damselflies.

The previous week when I had a look around the pond I could not see any tadpoles. This week there were quite a lot again.

I did catch sight of a Nuthatch feeding a young one but it was too quick for me, the photos were very blurry, but I did get a photo of the juvenile on its own.

I walked up to the canal looking for more wildlife but the wildest life was on the towpath. Most cyclists were sensible, giving walkers priority and letting them know which way they were going, but several flew past without so much as a ding-ding, even when walkers were passing each other.

A couple of barges were moving along the canal and a couple of people in Kayaks. The people in the Kayaks were able to lie flat and pass under the footbridge.

The photos of the black ladybird, the shieldbugs and the Magpies were taken from our garden.

Wednesday evening was a photography Treasure Hunt in Lister Park with Shipley Camera Club. The photos above are the ones that I say match the 15 topics/phrases we were given. Such things as:-

  • Something purple
  • Close up
  • Far away
  • Something made of wood
  • Something made of metal.
  • Etc. Etc.

The photos below are others I took during the evening.
