Two winters ago we had loads of Bramblings in our garden. Last winter I did not see one. But this morning there is one on our feeder. I wonder if we will get the numbers that we had before?
Here’s one on the feeder with a Goldfinch
And on its own
Still birdie related – I have seen these ducks on the canal for months now and just thought of them as escapees from someone’s “stock”. However I bumped in to Paul King of BOG and we started to wonder what variety they were. So I am uploading photos of them so experts can ID them for me. According to folk on iSpot this is a Domestic duck descended from the Mallard and has the same name (Anas platyrhynchos) “I think this is what they call the Crested Pekin Duck which originates from the Mallard and shares the scientific name.”
and these? The first suggestion for ID from iSpot is Mallard x Domestic Duck (Anas platyrhynchos) (The domestic duck is descended from the Mallard – Anas platyrhynchos=Mallard)
