I have many photos to catch up on, many of them going back to Ingress days out last year. But here are a few from last month.
This is a shot of a couple of Cormorant at Rodley Nature Reserve.
This man-made structure might look a bit boring at the moment but later in the Spring it will look much more interesting as Sand Martins make their nests the layers of sand. It is across from one of the hides at Rodley Nature Reserve.
If some of you Ingress players need an excuse to visit, you can navigate to this portal. Apologies to those that don’t play Ingress, the map won’t display for you. Why not sign-up and join the Resistance?
There’s a couple more portals in the reserve that will take you past several good viewing points.
This year a roof section of Salt’s Mill is being refitted. They started early enough in the year so that Kestrels had not had chance to start nesting. If the Kestrels had started nesting the work would not have been able to be started until after they had fledged.
The scaffolding is quite impressive. The Kestrels nest in that far wall.
I have several reasons for walking round Robert’s Park. Two of them being lunchtime exercise and bird spotting. This photo of a Treecreeper (not Nuthatch as I originally said for some reason) was taken in Robert’s Park.
Another reason is Ingress. The park has quite a few portals and this link shows the nearest portal to where I took the photo of the Nuthatch.

This photo of the Private Fishing sign (again in Robert’s Park) was taken on 35 March 2017. It shows that the tree hasn’t grown much over the last 2 years. Have a look at the photos in this blog post from October 2015. And this portal is just across the path from the Private Fishing sign. I haven’t heard any news in a long while about the Archimedes Screw generator that was planned for this area. It will be a shame if the tree with this quirky sign is chopped down to make way for the work.
I think you can tell from this that satellite dishes are not allowed in Saltaire. It’s a good job Wrose transmitter is only just over the way.
And to finish with here’s a shot of a Chiffchaff in the pose you normally see them – near the top of a tree going “chiff chaff, chiff chaff”
