Another trip to Ben Rhydding Gravel Pits Local Nature Reserve.

After walking down the short path to near the notice board one of the first things I spotted were Dragonflies flying about. I should have gone back to my car to get my tripod and gimbal to have a go at photographing them in flight. I spent some time during the visit trying to get them but without success. At various times one would take to the air near me so I then tried looking for them on the plants and managed male and female Common Darter and a Brown Hawker.
While looking for the Dragonflies I was walking slowly and quietly and then noticed a couple of Pheasant walking along just to the side of me. Most of the time they were well hidden as they walked along feeding until they walked across the path in front of me.
On the same path were small patches of Eyebright. I have posted photos of these flowers before but this time decided to put my fat finger in the frame to give it scale. They are tiny. Meadow Brown butterflies are around from through July and August. This one looks as though it has been flying for all of that time.
While stalking Dragonflies I kept seeing butterflies over by a bank of brambles. From a distance I thought they were large Whites but then I noticed a slight tint to one or two of them so went to investigate and was rewarded by watching male and female Brimstone butterflies.
