On Friday evening the RSPB Airedale and Bradford Local Group held a virtual meeting A Year with Dippers (and Other Wildlife on the River) by Jenny Hibbert and then to nicely follow on from that, today, Sunday 16 Feb 2025 there was a guided walk along Goit Stock Lane by Harden Beck. I joined them with my camera and we all had a very enjoyable time.

Dippers
As if they knew what we were looking a couple of Dippers showed themselves. We had heard a few small birds in the trees but the first bird we got a proper sighting of was a Dipper that we saw from the bridge at the entrance to Harden Park Homes.

One of the Dippers was collecting Moss and seeming to wash it in the beck. Dippers make their nests out of Moss.
Other Birds
During the walk we kept our eyes and ears open for other birds. It was quiet most of the time but we did get some decent sightings.

Other birds heard were Goldfinch and Greenfinch with various Gulls seen and heard high above us.
Fungi, Lichen & Moss
With much of it being old woodland many of the trees and rocks were covered in Mosses & Lichen. A few Fungi were also showing on some of the tree trunks and branches.

The amount os Moss and Lichen covering things is impressive. In several places there were also clumps of Daffodils showing.
Waterfall and other sights
We left the Beck soon after Goit Stock Waterfall. This was my first sighting of the waterfall. I have seen many photos of it because it is a favourite spot for several photography contacts of mine.

After a stop off at Bingley Garden Centre we headed back to where the cars were parked, near The Malt Shovel of Harden.
