We had some snow on Saturday night 2 December and on Sunday morning. I thought it looked rather good on the trees. Many branches had snow pilled up on them so there hadn’t been a lot of wind as the snow was falling.
This first set of photos are of the snow. The branches of the trees can be seen and a couple of the photos show the depth of snow on the branches. It was lovely crunchy snow, ideal for snow balls. Sticking together nicely but not too much to become icy. Tap on an image to see it larger.
As a starter I decided to go and have a look at Brook Hill, then down Kirklands Rd. to the railway bridge and down Kirklands Lane to Otley Road and the white of St James’ Church.

From Otley Road I headed down to Denso Marston Nature Reserve where most of the pond was covered in snow. Though Moorhen are not big birds they have, what I would call, disproportionately large feet. Their tracks could be seen in the snow. Several of the tracks were heading towards the feeding station.

The Spider Club feeding station was busy.

Near the down river end to the reserve a Cormorant was diving. I didn’t see it catch anything, perhaps it was just hiding from me. It then posed on one of the rocks for a few minutes.
