A while ago I installed the Tweet This plugin for WordPress. It was a handy little plugin that tweeted whenever I added a new post to my blog. Unfortunately a couple of days ago it stopped working. I now get a HTTP 404 error message next to the tweet this dialogue box whenever it tries to update twitter or I use my blog to write a tweet.
My suspicion is that changes to the twitter API rules have resulted in it no longer working but I am a little surprised that I have not read more about it. Another thing is that Tweet This seems to have disappeared from the list of plugins for WordPress. I posted to the WordPress forum for plugins under Tweet This and several people have said “Same here”. I’ll admit that I have seen many people post “Same here.” or “I have exactly the same problem.” to support forums when the only thing that is similar is that it isn’t doing what they expected it to be doing. One post was “I don’t know what to do about this.” – helpful!
What I would like is for a few people to tweet, or in some way let me know, that they are currently using a plugin to tweet their blog posts and that it is working with the latest version of WordPress. I can then look at installing the same thing.
In the meantime I will copy and paste a link into a tweet. I think I can cope with the extra work.
Update: After a suggested change to the update url from noapi1 we are going to test and see what happens. IT WORKS!
