Moorside, Willy Wood, Tong Park Dam 20 Apr ’24
On Saturday I had a wander down Heygate Lane to Moorside and over to Tong Park Dam. It’s quite a while since I went over that way. Here’s a few photos from the walk. Some of the trees are quite green, others are only just sprouting their leaves. There didn’t seem to be anything special…

During a Sunday visit to the Denso Marston Nature Reserve, I observed various wildlife including Bee Hoverflies, a Female Goosander, and a Peacock Butterfly. Vandalism was evident with a damaged gate and feeder posts.

Ben Rhydding Gravel Pits on the last day of March
At Ben Rhydding Gravel Pits, breeding signs were apparent with a broken Blackbird egg found. A male Orange Tip butterfly was also seen, though it remained mostly stationary due to the cold despite warm sun spells. Chiffchaffs, elusive at first, eventually came into camera range. It’s still March, DMNR again
The sunny day drew me to Denso Marston Nature Reserve, where butterflies like the Comma and Peacock basked in the sunshine. Observations included a Gold Finch, potentially gathering nest materials, and a Wren definitively nest building. Cherry Blossoms and Marsh Marigolds created a picturesque scene, with detailed images and EXIF data available for viewing.

These are from The International Gold Cup race at Oulton Park, 29 May 1972. This is a race that includes Formula 1 cars but does not count towards…

Baildon Moor. A few minutes in Jan.
On a chilly Sunday, I explored Baildon Moor, photographing wildlife along a path flanked by walls. Though I heard unseen pheasants, I managed to capture images of a possible female Reed Bunting and a Barn Owl in the evening light. Unfortunately, the website’s gallery feature is malfunctioning.

Early Jan by the river
On January 5th and 6th, 2024, a visit to the Denso Reserve yielded a diverse birdwatching experience. Notable sightings include Goldcrests, Siskins, Treecreepers, and a Red Kite with prey. The Little Grebe showcased impressive fishing skills, while Redwings and Song Thrushes were spotted in the area’s foliage. A keen observation captured the unique behavior of…

Briggate in August
Hopefully I will catch up before the end of the year. These are from August 2023, a few minutes by the site of Shipley Cinema on Briggate, Shipley and a look around Potter Pits. I have yet to put something together of the Harley Rally at August Bank Holiday Weekend. The small piece of ground…
