My ramblings, my photos, photography, image editing, etc.

14th in Shipley & Bingley

These are some photos from a few minutes in Shipley and a walk round parts of Bingley as an outdoor session with Bingley Camera Club.

The header image is taken from the footbridge over the canal behind Killips Carpets looking to Gallows Bridge

As usual you can tap/touch/click on an image, not its caption, to see it in better quality in the gallery.

Shipley

On my first pause in Shipley I watched some Sand Martins flying around on the canal just next to the Otley Road bridge, next to AKA Automative. I didn’t see them head into a nest but did spot what looked like an abandoned nest. Goose? Swan?

I then went into Potter’s Pits next to Shipley Station. Platform 4 is being extended and new emergency exits created so there are barriers on the way to Potter’s Pits though not preventing pedestrian access – at least I was not asked to leave. I heard Wren, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Robin, Blackcap, Blackbird, Crow and Magpie. I spent a bit of time watching a bust that had the song of a Blackcap coming from it but nothing was visible.

I then went to have a look at the bit of waste land at Fox Corner, where the cinema used to be. After the cinema burnt down and the area cleared of rubble it grew into a nice wild area where I have seen lots of insect and bird life. The vegetation is now cut down so that the electronic advertising screen can be seen from the road. As a result the area doesn’t seem to support much wildlife now and rubbish is being thrown onto the site. I did spot quite a few areas of Kenilworth Ivy though.

I then went along the fence in the McDonalds Carpark looking at Bradford Beck. The yard on the other side of the Beck has a couple of rotting boats and several old fuel pumps. Price per litre £1.21 so not very old.

On the Beck I spotted a Grey Wagtail showing quite a bit of smart yellow.

Bingley

That Monday night was a meeting of Bingley Camera Club where we split up into groups and went out into Bingley to take photos and share ideas.

If you are using a phone the caption can take up most of the space of the thumbnail so you might find it easier to turn your phone to landscape to open the gallery. I am hoping to change that for the site.
